our operating unit

The Hopsital of Bourg Saint Maurice is equiped with a Mutlifonctional Operating Unit.
Thanks to its geographical location, our surgical unit is a reference in the treatment of winter sports traumas. Those traumas amount to 70% of our activity during the winter season (5 months). The operating theatres are comfortable and ergonomic (a new unit was built in February of 2009). The equipment is composed of advanced biomedical investments (2 new X-Ray Image Intensifier (C-arms) bought in December 2022 that irradiate patients much less, 1 phacoemulsificator Zeiss for cataract treatments, 1 HAL-RAR Doppler to treat internal hemorrhoids). There is also a comprehensive sterilisation unit.

The operating team is trained to perform classic surgery as well as endoscopic surgery. In addition to trauma surgery, our teams can also do hip, knee and shoulder prothesis, arthroscopy, carpal tunnel syndrome, and so on... Frequent sessions are also dedicated to comestic, plastic and reconstructive surgery, as well as ophtalmic surgery.

Patients are in the hands of a fully qualified and caring team, reinforced during the winter season to face the significant increase in activity during this time.

going into surgery

A stretcher-bearer will come to get you in your room, will check your identity and will then take you directly to the operating theatre.

A multidisciplinary team will welcome you in the operating unit. The nurse will check your identity once more and will ask you a few questions.

The anaesthetist will talk to you and proceed to do the most suitable anaesthesia for your pathology. Waiting time before the procedure will vary according to the type of anaesthesia you received and at what time you will undergo the intervention.

After the procedure, you will be transfered to the recovery room for an optimal post-intervention monitoring. You will then be able to be transfered back to your room.
