CONSULTATIONS
DURING PREGNANCY

You can be monitored directly at the hospital by midwives or gynaecologists: 1 consultation/month.

It is recommended to get 3 ultrasounds done during the pregnancy: 1st trimester (12th week), 2nd trimester (22nd week) et 3rd trimester (32nd week).

An early prenatal interview with a midwife, on your own or with your significant other, is offered to help you sort out your needs, your hopes and your projects for the birth of your child.

It is MANDATORY to see the anaesthetist at 8 months of your term (you need to call for your appointment at the beginning of the 7th month).

You can also attend a meeting around breastfeeding held by the PMI nurse every month. It is also possible for you to get an appointment regarding tobacco or any addiction with the Hospital psychologist.

Childbirth preparation classes are given by the midwife (you can make an appointment as soon as you are 6 months pregnant).

HOPITALISATION AT THE MATERNITY WARD
how to proceed:

Your stay at the maternity ward is a special moment to cherish with your child as well as a preparation for your return home. The ward is organised so that you can keep your child next to you day and night.
2 paediatric consultations will occur during your stay.

At night, you can access the maternity ward by ringing the « Maternité » intercom located at the main entrance of the hospital. Please be kind to remove your piercings, jewelry and nailpolish before your arrival.

  Visiting hours : 4pm - 7pm

We kindly remind you that visiting is forbidden for people and children that are ill, contagious or have a cold. Fathers can be present outside visiting hours to participate, with the mother, in learning how to care for the baby. We also offer an introduction to wellness massages for newborns as well as wrapped bathing.

Fathers are allowed to stay at night with the mother if they want to, but need to ask the team for the terms of stay. Flowers are allowed.

gynaecology and abortions

gynaecology

Consultations are for the follow-up and treatment of gynaecological pathologies. Gynaecologists will insure the screening and prevention for sexually transmitted diseases.

If you are in good health, two midwives are available to conduct a gynaecolocial follow-up or prevention, whatever your age, whatever if you have given birth before or not. Midwives are perfectly trained to diagnose pathologies and can then refer you to the appropriate physician.

Gynaecologists as well as midwives can advise you on different means of contraception and can prescribe all types of contraception:

  • hormonal and local contraceptives,
  • intrauterine, diaphragm and cap contraceptives,
  • emergency contraception.

What can be done at the hospital:

  • insertion, monitoring and removal of the diaphragm or the cap,
  • insertion, monitoring and removal of intrauterine contraceptives (IUDs),
  • insertion and removal of implants.

abortion

Our unit welcomes and helps women who wish to terminate a pregnancy. Abortions are allowed up until 12 weeks of pregnancy, which corresponds iwth 14 weeks since your last period. The abortions between 12 and 14 weeks of amenorrhea are treated at the Chambéry Hospital.

The follow-up is conducted by our multidisciplinary team: secretary, midwives and doctors. Hospitalisation in orthogeny is done in the maternity ward as an outpatient.

Do not forget:

  • Your blood group card (mandatory in case you want an abortion)
  • Your social security card or European Health Insurance Card or an attestation from the social security

Underage girls can be admitted and treated for an abortion completely anonymously (in French, "sous X").
